Crystal Cube is the first product of Super absorbent polymer. It didn't really kick off until the pearl shape has been made. The disadvantage of cube is the color runs after soak in water. So it is recommended not to soak in water for too long. A 10 gram packet of crystal cube expands to fill a volume of over 700ml after soaked in water for 5 hours, don't wait until fully expand, drain the water and you will get a irregular shape crystal soil, it will transform itself into cube after few hours.
If use crystal cubes do layering in a glass vase, it's a good idea to put a clear cube layer to separate each color, otherwise the colors may blend together and make the bottom color become blur. It also is a good idea to put light colors on top and dark colors at the bottom.
