Lucky Bamboo, botanical name Dracaena , is a tough and resilient plant and it's
considered easy to care for. First, avoid direct sunlight. Lucky Bamboo grows naturally under the canopy of wet tropical rain forests. It needs very little light to thrive. The more indirect, the better. If you see burning or browning on the tips of the leaves, the location may have received too much sunlight.
Lucky Bamboo must be kept moist all the time, and Crystal soil or Crystal gel is just
perfect for the lucky bamboos. It is recommended to wash the roots under running water every time you change the crystal soil. You would do this by brushing the roots with your fingers gently while holding the plant under running water. The reason for doing this is to wash out the old rotten roots and make room for new root growth.
Below are some more tips of caring Lucky Bamboos. * Some information is from other medias.
- Lucky Bamboo cannot grow outdoors.
- Avoid direct sunlight. It burns easily under direct sun light. The leaves will turn yellow and eventually die.
- If the leaves turn yellow, if not the sunlight, then it must be too cold. Move the lucky bamboo to a warmer place. It grows faster in between 20-25 degrees. If the cane turns yellow from top, cut the yellow part right away, and seal the top with candle wax, the bamboo maybe saved. Otherwise the whole cane may die soon.
- The lucky bamboos are not meant for human consumption!
- You can break off the sprout and place them in a different container and try growing them (sometimes this works but not always).

- You can revive the bamboo if it is wrinkling. Wrinkling happens when a healthy plant doesn't receive enough water through it's roots. If this happens, place it in a tall glass or pitcher of water for about 3-4 days. Make sure that as much as possible is submerged without having the leaves under water. Pluck off the yellow leaves. However, if the stalk is yellowing and/or soft to the touch remove it from the rest of the plants as soon as possible and replace with a new stalk.
